Commissioners Want Dope On Why No Goshen Documents
Goshen residents wanted the skinny on what was in store for their neighborhood. Instead, they got the stonewall from the city. Even after several requests, they could not get a copy of the stimulus grant application that could bring $21 million to their neighborhood. Now, Augusta Commissioners want to know what happened. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

Goshen Neighbors Go Before Commissioners About Grant Money
Some Commissioners say it was a mistake for Augusta officials to apply for a $50 million stimulus loan for housing, without consulting them beforehand. The mayor signed off on the grant, saying the city was facing a deadline, and if he did not take action, the city would have had no chance to receive the funds. The Village at Goshen is one of those areas who could receive the low income housing money. Tuesday night, it was there turn to go before Commissioners and let them know what they thought of the whole thing. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has more.

UGA Pays 2 Fratertinities $2.4 Million For Off-Campus Digs
The University of Georgia has paid two fraternities nearly $2.4 million to move to houses off-campus. UGA officials moved five fraternities from along South Lumpkin Street and plan to build new homes for the UGA School of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Terry College of Business and other academic buildings.

Georgia State University Student Gets Grant For Housing Research
A Georgia State University student will use a national grant to study the effects of demolishing public housing in Atlanta and other cities across the country. The American Planning Association and Community Development Division is giving Emily Turner $1,000 to continue her research.
