GA House Of Representatives Adopts Stiffer Speeding Fines
The House has adopted stiffer fines on motorists who speed to help shore up Georgia’s ailing network of trauma hospitals. The measure would tack on an additional $200 on drivers who top 85 mph on four-lane roads and interstate highways and those who top 75 mph on two-lane roads. The so-called “Super Speeder” measure passed 113-53 Monday and goes to the Senate.

SC Budget Cuts May Impact Restaurant Inspections, Rabies Vaccinations
State budget cuts could start having an effect on your health. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) says it will have to cut back on many of the services it performs because of the state’s budget problems, including reducing the number of restaurant inspections it performs. Many South Carolina hospitals have frozen hiring as they try to deal with the recession. The Greenville News reported Monday that the South Carolina Hospital Association is polling its 64 member hospitals about the impact of the economic downturn.
