Veterans Day is fast approaching, and some folks in Aiken are getting ready to show their thanks.

Thousands of men and women have lost their lives in the serving our country, and Thursday, along with Fort Gordon, we salute a mother who lost her son on the battlefield. WJBF News Channel 6’s Kimberely Scott spent Thursday morning in Thomson, and has this story.

It was 13 years to the day, Wednesday, since 3 North Augusta Department of Social Services workers were shot and killed at work. Those victims were honored Wednesday at the SC State Capitol. Wednesday evening, WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop talked with one supervisor who was inside the building when it all happened.

Federal authorities have cited and fined three metro Atlanta construction companies in connection with the collapse of a pedestrian walkway at the Atlanta Botanical Garden that killed one worker and injured another 18.
