UPDATED: Teen SC Bomb Plotter Agrees To 10 Years In Prison

The South Carolina teenager accused of plotting to blow up his high school is expected to plead guilty to federal explosives charges. Prosecutors and defense attorneys say 19-year-old Ryan Anthony Schallenberger will change his plea to guilty during a hearing in Florence Wednesday. Update: Schallenberger has agreed to serve 10 years in prison.

Lawyers: Accused SC Bomb Plotter To Plead Guilty

Attorneys for the South Carolina teenager accused of plotting to blow up his high school say their client will plead guilty to federal charges next week. Attorneys for 19-year-old Ryan Schallenberger would not say after a brief hearing in Florence on Friday which charges would be part of a plea agreement.

A former Georgia Tech student has been convicted of plotting to aid a terrorist group by videotaping landmarks in Washington, D.C. U.S. District Judge Bill Duffey found 24-year-old Syed Haris Ahmed guilty of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism in the U.S. and abroad.

SC Councilman Found Guilty In Spying Case

A former South Carolina county councilman has been found guilty of using spyware to scan another county employee’s computer and e-mails. The Greenville News reported Thursday that attorneys for former Greenville County Councilman Tony Trout said he’ll likely appeal the conviction. He faces up to 16 years in prison when he is sentenced later, but attorney Benjamin Stepp said he will try to convince the judge that Trout doesn’t need to go to jail.

Ole Miss Basketball Coach Makes Plea Deal In Ohio

Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct in his cab driver assault case. Kennedy avoided trial and possible jail time with the plea deal Monday in Hamilton County Municipal Court in Cincinnati. He will be on probation for six months and must perform 40 hours of community service.

Phil Spector Found Guilty Of 2nd-Degree Murder

Music producer Phil Spector has been convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion six years ago. A Los Angeles Superior Court jury returned the verdict Monday after an estimated 29 to 30 hours of deliberations.

Harlem, GA Public Works Director Pleads Guilty To Clean Water Act Violations

According to a press release e-mailed to WJBF News Channel 6, Edmund A. Booth, Jr., United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, announced that Daniel Webster Cason, the Public Works Director for the City of Harlem, Georgia who is responsible for the operation of that city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, entered a plea of guilty today in U.S. District Court in Augusta before U. S. District Judge J. Randal Hall to three counts of making false statements in records and reports regarding the Treatment Plant’s measurements of fecal coliform and biochemical oxygen demand in violation of Title 33, United States Code, Section 1319(c)(4).

Ex-Atlanta Falcons Player Sentenced To 4 Years On Drug Plea

Former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Ken Tippins has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to cocaine possession. Alapaha Chief Assistant District Attorney Charles Stines says Tippins will serve four years followed by six years of probation. In exchange for the cocaine plea, a marijuana possession with intent to distribute charge was dropped.

GA Man Pleads Guilty In 4-Year-Old’s Death

A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty in Hall County Superior Court in the June 2005 rape-slaying of a 4-year-old girl. Cornelio Zamites, a farm worker, was charged in an 18-count indictment that also included child molestation, false imprisonment and kidnapping in the strangulation of the child.
