State investigating fire at Grovetown personal care home
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine’s office is investigating an early morning fire at a personal care home in Columbia County that left one man with serious injuries. The fire which occurred around 2 a.m. destroyed Smith Personal Care Home, located at 5432 Old Augusta Highway in Grovetown.

UPDATED: Investigation Continues Into Deadly Grovetown Home Invasion
The search is on for suspects in a Columbia County murder. Grovetown investigators say 38-year-old Ricky Gibson was killed during a home invasion. It happened at his home on Williams Street, in Grovetown, overnight Tuesday. That’s just off Wrightsboro Road. Investigators spent hours at the mobile home searching for clues. WJBF-TV News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud spoke with a Gibson’s cousin, Wednesday, and she says he’ll be missed.
