Golf Classic Honors Aiken County Officer

it was a chance to remember someone special…and support a special event. Lieutenant Michael Frank was the face of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. Last November, he was killed in a car accident. Monday, a group of people got together to celebrate his life, while continuing his support for a local organization. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe reports.

Y.E. Yang won his first major title at the PGA Championship on Sunday, and he took down Tiger Woods to do it.

Y.E. Yang Holds Off Tiger, Wins PGA Championship

Y.E. Yang won his first major title at the PGA Championship on Sunday, and he took down Tiger Woods to do it.  The South Korean finished at 8-under 283, three strokes ahead of
Woods. Yang is the first Asian player to win a major.  It is only the second time Woods has lost when having the lead going into the final round on the PGA Tour, and the first time at a major. The world’s No. 1 player finishes the year without a major title for the first time in five years.

UPDATED: Augusta National Chairman Releases Statement On Possibility Of Golf In 2016 Olympic Games

International Olympic leaders are recommending golf and rugby for inclusion in the 2016 Summer Games. The International Olympic Committee executive board selected the two Thursday from a list of seven proposed sports. Failing to make the cut were baseball, softball, squash, karate and roller sports.

Louisville, GA Native Punches His Ticket To Next Year’s Masters

Louisville is located 45 miles from Augusta National National Golf Club. It took Brian Gay just less than 39 years to make the trip. The former Louisville resident won his first full-field event on the PGA Tour, Sunday, in Hilton Head, and as such earned his first-ever invitation to the Masters.
