A South Carolina judge has denied a request to reconsider a court-approved settlement agreement over how to parcel out James Brown’s wealth. Law clerk Carra Henderson said Judge Jack Early ruled Tuesday that his previous decision approving the settlement would stand, but hasn’t filed an official order.

He’s been in the Garden City before. In 2006, Michael Jackson came to Augusta, to attend the funeral of James Brown. The King of Pop, paying respect to the Godfather of Soul. It’s a holiday tradition here in the CSRA: the annual James Brown Toy Giveaway. Monday, people came out to this year’s event at the Imperial Theatre, on Broad Street.

Across the CSRA, hundreds lined up to take part in the annual James Brown Turkey Giveaway. Although the ‘Godfather Of Soul’ is gone, his legacy lives on in the Garden City. Brown started the turkey giveaway years ago, and his family isn’t stopping the tradition.
