Georgia DOT To Suspend Lane Closures; Reminds Holiday Travelers To Expect Delays, Plan Ahead And Cal
The Thanksgiving holidays are among the busiest travels days of the year and the Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorist to expect delays, plan ahead and be patient. Georgia DOT will suspend construction-related lane closures on all interstates and major state routes from 5 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, until midnight, Sunday, Nov. 29, to accommodate travelers.

Ramp it Up On I-20

According to a press release, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GADOT) is launching a new resource for teen drivers and their parents. The website, ‘Teen Driving Safety 101,‘ is a ‘one-stop’ information portal providing information on driving laws, safety tips and travel information to help teens stay safe behind the wheel.

I-20 West Ramp To Bobby Jones Expressway To Be Temporarily Closed
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GADOT), the I-20 west ramp to Bobby Jones Expressway east and west will be closed on Thursday, October 8th and/or Friday, October 9th (weather permitting) from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. and/or 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Augusta Train Depot Grant Could Be Moving On Down The Line
Money to preserve a big part of Augusta’s past could be history. Three years ago, the old train depot on Reynolds Street was awarded a $450,000 grant for renovations, but that money could soon be moving on down the line. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

Belair Road Ramp From I-20 To Be Temporarily Closed

Georgia DOT Suspends Roadwork For Sales Tax Holiday
Shoppers will get a break from road construction this weekend to go along with the state’s suspension of the sales tax for school supplies, clothing and computer equipment. The Georgia Department of Transportation will suspend construction-related lane closures within five miles of a shopping mall or major shopping district on all interstates and major state routes beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, July 31 through 9 p.m. Sunday, August 2.
Closures For Utility Relocation/Intersection Reconstruction; Detours Planned For Walton Way
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GADOT), starting on Monday, and continuing for about 4 months (weather permitting), there will be closures and detours on Walton Way from Dantignac Street to New Balie Street, and the St. Sebastian Way intersection with Osler Lane.

Governor Perdue Certifies $51 Million In Road Projects
Gov. Sonny Perdue has cleared the way for 11 road projects funded by the federal stimulus package to move forward. The projects cost $51 million and span Georgia, from metro Atlanta to Washington County.

Millions More For Augusta Area Road Projects
Several road projects in Augusta and Columbia County have already been approved for funding from a part of the money Georgia received from the stimulus bill. Baker Place Road Closure Update
Columbia County, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Transportation, wishes to inform the driving public of an update concerning the unscheduled road closure for all thru traffic on Baker Place Road. The road closure will prevent any thru traffic from heading any further north or south along Baker Place Road, at the bridge over Interstate 20. Local traffic may still access Baker Place Road, from either end, but will not be able to continue past the overpass.
