Georgia Sees Drop In SAT Scores For Third Year
Georgia high school students performed worse on the SAT college-entrance exam than their predecessors for the third year in a row. According to data released Tuesday by the test’s administrators, The College Board, Georgia’s mean score on the test is 1,460 this year, a six-point drop since last year. That’s compared to the national mean score of 1,509.

Disabled Students Athletic Program To Lose Funds
Massive budget cuts mean state funding is likely to be pulled from a program that organizes competitive team sports for disabled high school students. The American Association of Adapted Sports Programs, a nonprofit, learned last week it’s losing its main source of funding - $705,000 in state Department of Education funds.

Richmond County School System’s Georgia High School Graduation Scores Improve
According to Louis Svehla, Public Information Officer for the Richmond County Board of Education, the Richmond County School System is proud to release the preliminary results from this year’s high school graduation tests. These are preliminary numbers that could change.
Georgia Students Doing Better On Graduation Test
The percentage of Georgia’s 11th graders passing the state’s high school graduation test is on the rise. According to numbers released by the state Department of Education on Wednesday, 91 percent of juniors passed the English language arts portion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test. That’s up from 90 percent last year.

Georgia Schools To Get $760 Million In Stimulus Funds
The Georgia school board has approved $760 million in federal stimulus funds for special education programs and Title I schools - institutions in low-income rural and inner city areas. In a specially called meeting Tuesday, the board voted unanimously to begin distributing the money immediately.
