One man is dead and two Richmond County deputies are on paid administrative after the Sheriff says they shot and killed a murder suspect. WJBF News Channel 6’s Crime Tracker Barclay Bishop has the latest.

The GBI is investigating after a shooting in downtown Augusta following a domestic dispute. Terry Ramsey, 41, was shot and killed by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies during a domestic situation on Metcalf Street, in downtown Augusta. UPDATE: The two deputies involved in the shooting have been identified as Deputy Chadwick Plueger and Deputy Sylvester Rosier.

According to our new partner, WTHO radio, in Thomson, a hold-up at an area bank sent a Savannah, GA man to jail Monday.

Authorities believe a body found in a landfill is that of 7-year-old Somer Thompson, a north Florida girl who disappeared on her walk home from school, the sheriff in charge of the case said Thursday. Sheriff Rick Beseler said the tentative identification was based on clothing and on a birthmark that matched the girl’s.

A woman’s body has been found in Thomson, Georgia at the intersection of White Oak Road and Lincoln Drive. That’s in McDuffie County. Someone walking to work spotted the body, Wednesday morning, and called the GBI and McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office. The body, which was found in a ditch, is identified as Vicki Lynn Gunby. UPDATE: At this time, investigators do not believe Gunby died as a result of foul play.

The search is on for a killer in Swainsboro, Georgia. The body of 57-year old Daisy Pearl Brown was found at her home on the 1700 block of Highway 80 in east Swainsboro. While the exact cause of death is not yet known, investigators are treating this as a homicide.

WJBF News Channel 6 has received reports that a body has been found. We have been told that the body has been found on Riverfront Drive, near the boathouse. We have a crew en route, and will have more information as it becomes available. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating this discovery as a homicide.

Georgia authorities say they are still pursuing leads on the woman who police say was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her phone. The GBI called off the ground search for 38-year-old Kristi Cornwell Wednesday after spending nearly eight days searching parts of a three-state area for her.

Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have arrested a 33-year-old Newman man they say threatened a GBI crime lab scientist. Authorities have charged George Thomas Lawrence with making terroristic threats.

Authorities searching for a missing north Georgia woman began interviewing 180 sex offenders in nearby Tennessee as the case extended into a seventh day. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead says investigators on the Kristi Cornwell case were talking to sex offenders in counties closest to the Georgia-Tennessee border on Tuesday. Road checks and neighborhood canvassing in Blairsville continued.

The location is right off of Washington Road behind Longhorn Steakhouse.  The search started Wednesday after a tip from someone who investigators say “wanted to clear their conscience” about something that may have happened some 10 years ago. WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that, on Thursday evening, August 6th, 2009 at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 23 year-old Eddie Williams, Jr. without incident at his residence on Hudson Road, near Wadley, Georgia for the murder of his 52-year-old mother, Janice Williams, on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009.

Authorities are searching again, on Thursday, for the possibility of finding 2 bodies, in Richmond County. A tip came in late last week from someone authorities say had a guilty conscience. UPDATE: WJBF News Channel 6 has just learned that investigators have made a discovery while searching for two bodies. They will not tell us, at this point, what they found.
