Swiss authorities say they acted correctly when they tipped off the United States and set in motion the arrest of Roman Polanski in his decades-old child sex case

Newly released documents show that Swiss authorities set in motion the arrest of fugitive director Roman Polanski. A series of e-mails obtained by The Associated Press show that the Swiss tipped off their U.S. counterparts about Polanski’s imminent arrival at a Zurich film festival.

A Canadian fugitive on the run for more than a decade on an attempted murder charge has been arrested in suburban Atlanta.

According to a release from the Palm Bay (Florida) Police Department, a Richmond County fugitive has been arrested during a seatbelt checkpoint stop.

A man wanted on child molestation and sexual battery charges has surrendered at the Paulding County sheriffs office. The man, 30-year-old Jerry Fagen of Paulding County, surrendered on Sunday. Authorities accuse Fagen of abusing his 8-year-old stepdaughter. The 8-year-old and her 1-year-old brother were located on Saturday in Arizona with their mother.

A South Carolina fugitive has been arrested outside the gates of Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga. Hinesville police Maj. Thomas Cribbs says 22-year-old Antwan Jarmar Chaney, of Ridgeland, S.C., was captured during a police chase Saturday.
