UPDATED: Babysitter Charged In Baby’s Death
A Columbia County babysitter is charged with killing the baby she was supposed to be watching. Lawanda Concettes Tripp, 39, has been arrested, charged with the murder of 22-month-old Tearia Michele Hall. It happened on Avery Landing Drive…just off Belair Road. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop reports.

Funeral services will be held Saturday for 32-year old Army Staff Sargeant Justin Decrow, of Evans, who was killed in the Fort Hood shooting incident. Services will be at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, in Indiana, at 1:00 p.m.

Local Soldier, Husband And Father Killed In Fort Hood Shootings
The wife of Justin DeCrow says her husband “always put others at ease.“ The 32-year old was killed when a shooter fired on a room filled with dozens of people. Thirteen were killed and thirty injured in the rampage. DeCrow lived in Evans Georgia and was waiting to return home for work at Fort Gordon, where he was assigned in 2000.

Marines, Sailors At Fort Gordon Run To Remember The Fallen
Remembering the fallen…Saturday, Marines and Sailors at Fort Gordon began their tribute to honor those who have lost their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan, over the past year. Marines and sailors run 24 hours a day, for 21 days…an honor not just for the fallen, but also for the runners. This is the only tribute of its kind in the nation, and it’s the fifth year they have done it. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop was at Fort Gordon, on Monday, and she has more on this tribute.

Fort Gordon Soldier Dies In Iraq
According to the Fort Gordon Public Affairs Officer Marla Jones, a soldier with the 67th Signal Battalion died in Iraq on September 29th in a non-combat related incident. Specialist Ross Eugene Vogel III, 27, of Company B, 67th Signal Battalion, deployed to Iraq with the unit in August. He was found unconscious in his room at Camp Delta, Iraq, near the city of Kut, and was taken to a medical facility.
