Florida coach Urban Meyer has been fined $30,000 by the Southeastern Conference for criticizing officials.

Last football season, Lakeside won 7 games. The Panthers still missed the state playoffs, but it did set the stage for what is taking place this year. Friday night, Lakeside can capture its first region championship in school history. WJBF News Channel 6 Sports Director Chris Kane has more.

Joe Cox knows he’s not the only reason Georgia won’t win the SEC or play in a major bowl this season. The quarterback can’t be blamed for Georgia giving up more points or rushing for fewer yards per game than any team in the Southeastern Conference.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier doesn’t even want to hear suggestions this year’s Gamecocks might have a late season swoon like the past two years. Spurrier pointed out Tuesday that the Gamecocks are 6-3, which for this year’s team full of young players is pretty good.
