OSHA Addresses Need For Combustible Dust Standard In Light Of Imperial Sugar Blast
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is taking steps to develop a standard to address the hazards of combustible dust. An explosion at Imperial Sugar in Port Wentworth, Ga., killed 14 workers last year. More than 130 workers have died and more than 780 were injured in such explosions since 1980.
Woman Sentenced For Fort Benning Fire
A former Fort Benning civilian employee has been sentenced to seven years in prison for setting a fire that burned down the west Georgia Army post’s historic Judge Advocate General’s headquarters.

Fire Destroys Evans Family Home
An Evans fire destroys a family’s home and everything in it. It happened around 5:00 p.m., Monday evening, in the High Grove subdivision. Thankfully no one was home. Fire investigators aren’t real sure how it got started, but once it did, a neighbor from across the street got the whole thing on tape. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has that story.

Fire At Silver Bluff High School Football Stadium
WJBF News Channel 6 has received numerous reports of a fire at Silver Bluff High School’s football stadium. The Silver Bluff Bulldogs were playing the Aiken High Fighting Green Hornets Friday night. We have been told a concession stand and ticket booth has burnt to the ground, three buildings in total. We will have more information as it becomes available.

GA Woman Set On Fire Prepares For More Surgery
Doctors are preparing a 42-year-old woman who was doused with kerosene and set on fire for skin grafts. Elisa Davenport’s brother says surgeons at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta worked Thursday to prepare her for the skin grafts. He says she is in an induced coma.

Woman Set On Fire By Boyfriend Treated In Augusta
An Athens, GA woman is on life support and her boyfriend is in jail after he allegedly doused her with kerosene and set her on fire. Elisa Davenport, 42, is in a hospital in Augusta with burns over about half her body, Athens-Clarke police said. Her boyfriend, Phillip Scruggs, 49, is charged with aggravated assault and first-degree arson, according to police.

Lightning Strikes Home
The storms were no match for anyone Saturday night. An Aiken County home was nearly destroyed after getting hit by lightning. Firefighters responded to the home on Aberdeen Court, where the fire was contained. The family was home at the time, but thankfully no one was hurt.
UPDATED: Fiery Crash Destroys Popular Glascock County Barn
One person is dead, and a landmark for Glascock County destroyed, after an alleged car chase. We’re told the Georgia State Patrol is investigating the fiery crash that happened Saturday night, in Glascock County. A viewer sent pictures in to our newsroom from the scene. They tell us about 10 fire trucks responded. We’re told the chase started following a traffic stop in Wrens.

Motion Seeks To Make Charleston A Defendant In Deadly Furniture Store Fire
Attorneys in South Carolina are going to court to argue motions in a lawsuit following the furniture store fire two years ago in which nine firefighters died. Monday’s hearing comes after attorneys for the Sofa Super Store asked that the city of Charleston be made a defendant. The city says it cannot be a defendant now because claims from the firefighters’ families have been settled through workers’ compensation.
