Area School Wants Access To Students’ Social Networking
Does a school have a right to demand access to your child’s Facebook or Myspace account? That’s the question some local parents are asking. School leaders at Victory Christian School say it’s all about making sure the students adhere to the school policies and they claim it’s not an invasion of privacy. Everyone has heard the reports of bear sightings in the CSRA, mostly in Columbia County. UPDATED: Former SC Election Leader Apologizes For Gorilla Comment About First Lady
A former South Carolina election official has apologized for his Internet posting that compared a gorilla to an ancestor of first lady Michelle Obama. Former state Election Commission Chairman Rusty DePass read a statement during an NAACP news conference in Columbia Wednesday saying his comments were offensive and foolish. The state NAACP is demanding an apology from a former South Carolina official whose Internet posting suggested a gorilla that escaped from the Columbia zoo was an ancestor of first lady Michelle Obama.

Missing Simpsonville, SC Woman’s Car Found; Unidentified Remains Nearby
Authorities say the car of a missing South Carolina woman has been found and a body has been discovered near it. Multiple media outlets reported that Spartanburg County authorities are conducting a death investigation and hope to identify the body Monday. Deputies have confirmed that the car that was found belonged to 48-year-old Julia Ann Vess, of Simpsonville, SC who was last seen May 17th.
