Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has cleared the way for the execution of sniper John Allen Muhammad.

Mark McClain Executed, Victim’s Co-Worker Remembers Tragic Night

At 7:24 p.m., Tuesday evening…Mark McClain was pronounced dead after being executed by lethal injection…14 years after he shot and killed Kevin Brown inside a Domino’s Pizza on Washington Road…12 years after he was found guilty of that crime, and sentenced to die. Kevin Brown’s father died shortly after the murder, but those who are still around, and knew Kevin, they say it’s a somber day, like John Eckburg, a friend and former co-worker of Kevin’s. A man convicted of murdering an Augusta Domino’s Pizza store manager during a robbery, 15 years ago, is scheduled to be executed Tuesday night. Mark Howard McClain is scheduled to be executed at 7 p.m. at the state prison in Jackson. UPDATE: Mark McClain was pronounced dead at 7:24 p.m., Tuesday night.

South Carolina’s Parole and Pardons board unanimously pardoned two great-uncles of national radio host Tom Joyner Wednesday. Thomas and Meeks Griffin were convicted of the 1913 murder of a white farmer in Chester County. Joyner came to Columbia from Dallas to plead their case. Mark McClain Asks Nation’s Top Court For Reprieve

A Georgia death row inmate is asking the nation’s top court to halt his execution until it resolves an Alabama death penalty case he says could affect his legal challenge. Mark McClain asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay the execution because a ruling in the other case could “alter the legal prism” through which his case is viewed.

October 20th Execution Set For Convicted Augusta Murderer

The Georgia Department of Corrections has set Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. for the execution of a convicted Richmond County murderer. A warrant signed Thursday by a judge permits the state to execute 43-year-old Mark McClain at any time between noon Oct. 20 and noon Oct. 27 at the state prison in Jackson.

The U.S. Supreme Court has granted a condemned Georgia inmate’s request that his execution be delayed, as he attempts to prove his innocence. Ohio Executes Trucker Who Went On Killing Spree

A former truck driver who went on a multistate killing spree has been executed in Ohio for the murder of a Cincinnati-area man who gave him a ride in 1991. Forty-five-year-old John Fautenberry of Oregon was pronounced dead at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.

Alabama Man Set To Die For Killing SC Cop

One more appeal stands between a 34-year-old Alabama man and execution by lethal injection in South Carolina’s death chamber. Thomas Treshawn Ivey is to be executed Friday for killing Tommy Harrison. Prosecutors say Ivey shot the 38-year-old Orangeburg police sergeant in 1993 after trying to pass a bad check.

Execution Stayed For GA White Supremacist

The Georgia Supreme Court has stayed the execution of a white supremacist just hours before he was to be put to death. William Mark Mize, 52, was convicted of killing one of his own followers. He was scheduled to die by lethal injection at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the 1994 murder of Eddie Tucker, who was shot to death after he failed to burn down what Mize considered to be a crack house in Athens.
