SC Judge Upholds James Brown Settlement
A South Carolina judge has denied a request to reconsider a court-approved settlement agreement over how to parcel out James Brown’s wealth. Law clerk Carra Henderson said Judge Jack Early ruled Tuesday that his previous decision approving the settlement would stand, but hasn’t filed an official order.

Woman Claims She Has James Brown’s Wishes for His Estate…In His Own Words
It was big news in the James Brown estate case, when the word “settlement” got passed around, last month. A proposal that was presented to the court suggested 50% of Brown’s estate go to his widow, Tommie Rae Hynie Brown, 25% to the trust Brown set up, and the other 25% be split up among Brown’s adult children. But, once again, things aren’t going smoothly. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe spoke with one woman who says she has James Brown on tape, saying exactly what he wants done with his money, and she says this proposed settlement…isn’t it.

Attorneys involved in the legal battle over James Brown’s estate say a South Carolina judge could soon decide on a settlement that would end the fight over how to parcel out the singer’s wealth. A hearing in Aiken County Friday will center on a long-awaited settlement. It would give 50 percent to Brown’s charitable trust to educate needy students; 25 percent to a woman claiming to be Brown’s surviving spouse; and 25 percent to some of Brown’s adult children.
