Zoo Atlanta Loses Pregnant Elephant After Decline

Zoo officials are investigating what caused the Monday night death of the 26-year-old African elephant, who was in the third trimester of her first pregnancy. The elephant, named Dottie, had lost about 800 pounds, about 10 percent of her body weight, in the last two weeks and had decreased protein levels.

Houston Elephant Helps Move Debris From Hurricane Ike

In Houston, residents are having a hard time removing debris from their yards, after Hurricane Ike. So, some animals from the Houston Zoo are giving them a hand…a trunk, rather. The 2,600 pound elephant, named ‘Tucker,‘ is moving tree limbs.
