Edgefield County investigators say littering led to the arrest of a man wanted for rape. Investigators say 20-year-old Douglas Carter was seen dumping trash at an abandoned home.

Edgefield County Woman Reported Missing
Edgefield County Investigators are looking for a woman who has been reported missing by her family. Angela Kim Hatfield, 42, from Johnston, was last seen around 7:45 a.m., Friday morning. She was last seen driving a gold 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche with SC tag AVC 731. Whe was last seen wearing a t-shirt and blue jean shorts.

UPDATED: DHEC Tells Edgefield County To Stop Dumping, Clean Up Trash Immediately
An update on a story we brought you Monday…DHEC had an investigator at the site Monday and will have someone back Tuesday. The agency will need to decide if Edgefield County Schools can continue to use some of the land on district property to dump and burn trash. UPDATE: DHEC has told the Edgefield County to stop dumping and clean up the trash, immediately. It’s not a landfill with permits, so they can’t do what they’re doing.

A local school district is defending itself after our news partners at EdgefieldDaily.com got a tip about possible illegal dumping behind J.E.T. Middle School. UPDATED: Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Car Crashes, Burns
According to EdgefieldDaily.com, an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responding to a call of a wreck on Republican Road lost control of his patrol car, hit an embankment, and reportedly was ejected from the car as it burst into flames. An ambulance responding to the first wreck happened upon the deputy lying on the side of the road and began treating him for his injuries. UPDATE: The deputy has now been released from MCG and is resting at home.

Edgefield County Man Arrested In North Augusta Armed Robbery
According to a release, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, arrested an Edgefield, SC man, Wednesday night, concerning the armed robbery that occurred at 1186 Edgefield Road, in North Augusta, SC, on April 15, 2009. The suspect is identified as Rickey Brunson, 52, of 68 Se Diggs Road, in Trenton, SC. Brunson is charged with Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, and Armed Robbery.

Edgefield County Suspect Charged With Several Burglaries
Edgefield County investigators have identified the man arrested Wednesday in connection to several burglaries in the county. The suspect is identified as Anthony Webber. He’s being charged in connection with some of the recent burglaries the southern side of the county’s been seeing.
