People who aren’t happy with the Augusta Commission are getting a chance to vote for change…Advance voting for the November 3rd election began Monday in Augusta.

Advance voting is underway and the numbers are picking up, as ballots are cast in Augusta’s sales tax election. That shows the interest is growing, but also reflects that two additional voting sites are now open. It’s more convenient for voters, but is it worth the cost? WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

The TEE Center is not a distraction for those pushing for passage of the next phase of the sales tax. The sales tax referendum is now two weeks away, and a citizens group is out making a pitch for the $184 Million package.

South Carolina lawmakers are considering whether voters should be allowed to cast early ballots in a three-day window before an election. Critics say fewer people will vote. Legislators on the House Judiciary Committee were debating Tuesday whether to advance the bill.

Early voting is under way in most counties in Georgia. Voters will cast ballots beginning Monday in the runoff for the U.S. Senate race between Republican Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

The people standing in line for hours to vote absentee in South Carolina could end up shortening the lines for everyone in future elections. State Rep. Joe Neal, D-Hopkins, says he’ll re-introduce a bill in January to allow early voting in South Carolina. He’s been trying to get it passed for the last six years.
