Boat Operator In Fatal SC Accident Ticketed
The driver of a boat that capsized in a South Carolina and killed three people has been ticketed for safety violations. Multiple media outlets reported Thursday that Tiffany Tucker was cited for failing to have proper flotation devices in the 14-foot boat that was carrying six people when it capsized near Sandy Island on Feb. 18.

Purple Heart Recipient Drowns In Lake Russell
A National Guard soldier who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan has drowned in a lake along the Georgia-South Carolina border. Multiple media outlets report that 28-year-old Brad Daniel Seawright’s body was recovered Sunday morning by divers searching Lake Russell.

A 2-year-old South Carolina has apparently drowned in a swimming pool at a home near Goose Creek, the seventh person to die in the water in the area in about a month. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Katie Feagin of Ladson was found in an above-ground pool at a mobile home Sunday.

3-Year-Old Drowns In Augusta
A local family is mourning the loss of their 3-year-old son. Carson Shipley drowned on Wednesday in a pool at a family friend’s house on the 3000 block of Storey Drive, in Augusta. The Shipley family is no stranger to strife, as Carson’s twin brother, Aiden, suffers from Diamond Black Fan Anemia, a rare disorder with only 35 cases known worldwide.

Search Continues For Teen Swimmer At Myrtle Beach
Authorities are still searching for a 16-year-old boy who disappeared while swimming at Myrtle Beach. Capt. David Knipes of the Myrtle Beach Police Department said Monday that the whole department remains on the lookout. The teenager from Conway was about 50 yards out in the water Sunday when one of his friends heard him call for help before disappearing. Authorities declined to release the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.

Father Gets 100-Year Term For Drowning 8-Year-Old Daughter
A suburban Chicago man with schizophrenia has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for drowning his 8-year-old daughter in a toilet. DuPage County prosecutors say Neil Lofquist claimed his daughter, Lauren, “was evil and it is what God intended.“ They say he choked her, drowned her and stabbed her in the neck in March 2006.

Columbia Teen Sisters Drowned, Coroner Says
Chantel and Jevonn Lawson were sisters, but also best friends who went everywhere together. Chantel was 16, Jevonn 14. They had moved into the Lake Carolina community in northeast Richland County outside Columbia recently with their parents, so they often went exploring their new neighborhood. When they hadn’t come home by the time it was dark Saturday evening, their mother, Evon, went looking for them. WJBF News Channel 6’s Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has more.
