Wednesday, we told you about the problems folks at Whitney Place were having with their drainage systems. Well, the developer of the property came out and fixed the problem. They found out there were 2 major holes in the pipes.

No Water, No Worries With Augusta Canal Draining

Seventy percent of Augusta’s drinking water comes from the Augusta Canal, but the historic waterway is being drained for some pipe work to upgrade the water system. So, the water system is the reason for the draining, and a new addition to the water system is also the reason the city is able to drain it without risking running short. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola explains.

Activist Group Complains About Draining Of The Augusta Canal

The city’s plan to drain the Augusta Canal for its Water Works project is set to begin in a few days, but one activist group says…not so fast. They’re looking for answers before the water is let out. The group is the Fair Government Association, and their concern is about the channels the city went through to get permission for the project, and also how the drain will affect wildlife. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker has more.

Augusta Canal Work Will Close Parts To Public

It’s a work to upgrade the city water system. The city is putting new pumps in at the pumping station, but to complete the work, the canal will be drained. But with the water down, the city plans to build up the canal.
