In an e-mail to WJBF News Channel 6, The Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross is accepting donations to assist victims of Friday night’s storms. The American Red Cross of Augusta has assisted many families in the areas that were affected by this weekend’s tornadoes.

Local residents are being asked to donate a variety of personal care and household items needed by low-income seniors. Throughout the month of March, WJBF News Channel 6 and the Giving Your Best partners, Georgia Bank & Trust, Solvay Advanced Polymers, and Walton Rehabilitation Hospital will be conducting the 2009 Shoeboxes for Seniors Campaign.

According to Captain Steve Morris, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two women who allegedly stole donated items from the Columbia County Resource Center.
