Dr. Bedden Braces For School Budget Pain

Richmond County School Superintendent Doctor Dana Bedden is facing to make deep cuts to his budget because school Board members voted against a tax increase. This year’s budget is now more than $1 milllon out of whack, and that’s not counting possible state cuts. But, board members say, in these tough times, it’s tough to ask taxpayers for more. Vote Scheduled Tuesday Night On Richmond County School Reightsizing

Richmond County School Board members are scheduled to vote on revamping its schools, in the wake of an unstable economy. For the past few months, board members and Superintendent Doctor Bedden have been meeting about rightsizing. Under the plan, some schools would consolidate, and others would close. And, as the board prepares to make a decision, the rightsizing agenda is not sitting well with some parents and teachers. A vote on the plan was expected Tuesday night, but Dr. Bedden is now saying he’s not sure whether that vote will happen, Tuesday night. WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud has more.

Community In Schools Presented With Check From The AT&T Foundation

According to Louis Svehkla, the Public Information Office for the Richmond County Board of Education (RCBOE), Monday, Stan Shepard, representing the AT&T Foundation, presented Community in Schools with a grant check for $79,036 that will be used over a two-year period to fund the FutureForce Technology Program at Tubman Middle School.
