Richmond County S.P.L.O.S.T. Referendum Results

In Richmond County, the results are in…many cast their ballots Tuesday on the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or S.P.L.O.S.T. There was a really low turnout…but a big price tag for area projects…$184 million worth of sales tax money at stake. WJBF News channel 6’s Barclay Bishop has more.

Augusta’s Ready For The Referendum

Augusta voters head to the polls, Tuesday, to decide whether to continue the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or S.P.L.O.S.T. Voters are looking at a more than $180 million package. Supporters are confident it will pass. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has more.

Dam Breaks, Threatens Road In Johnston, SC

The much-needed rainfall is causing some problems, in Edgefield County. A dam breach, this weekend, is leaving Holmes Pond Road in jeopardy of collapsing. Friday morning, sinkholes began to appear along the sides of the dam, and now crews are racing to get the water out before the road caves in. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

A New Plan For An Old Mall

It was an idea to get rid of a south Augusta eye sore…use $8 million from the next phase of the sales tax to buy Regency Mall, and tear it down. But, a new plan for the area keeps the mall in place, but would take some of the mall property for a lake park. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.
