UPDATED: Judge Rules To Hold Graniteville Water Collections For Now

You’ve heard about those huge water bills residents of Graniteville, SC and Vaucluse, SC have been dealing with…well some of them have decided to ditch the Avondale water system altogether… by digging their own wells and installing septic systems. But, they’re running into a problem with the state…WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe explains. UPDATE: Judge Jack Early has ruled to hold Graniteville water collections, for now. He said he hopes to rule on the case by Friday.

Mother of 11 Children Found in “Deplorable” Home Sentenced to 16 Years Probation

One year ago Friday, 11 children were removed from a filthy Burke County home, and placed into foster care. Friday, Christine Long, the mother of those 11 children, sat in front of a judge to hear her sentencing. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

Augusta Commissioner’s Tenants Appear In Court

A lot of people are having trouble making ends meet…Thursday two renters who are trying to make a living selling scrap metal were in court, facing charges of having junk in their yard. The brothers are living in Commissioner Betty Beard’s home on Boyd Lane. They were in Magistrate Court, Thursday morning, answering to city charges of failure to maintain the property.

Judge Rules CIA Committed Fraud In Court

A federal judge has ruled that CIA officials committed fraud to protect a former covert agent against a lawsuit. According to court documents unsealed Monday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth referred one CIA attorney for disciplinary action. The judge also is considering sanctions against five other current and former CIA employees, including former CIA Director George Tenet.

Owner of Dogs in Attack in Augusta Charged in Aiken County, SC

A Richmond County child’s mother is charged with child cruelty in a dog attack case. The dogs’ owner was in court in South Carolina for separate animal violations. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker sorts it all out.

DEVELOPING: Mother Of 2-Year-Old Dog Bite Victim Arrested, Dog Owner In Court

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, arrested Jessica Lynn Chavous on a charge of Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree. Chavous was committed to the Richmond County Jail on no bond. The charge stemmed from a July 10th dog attack that occurred at Chavous’ home, on the 3600 block of Belair Road, in Augusta, when her unattended 2-year-old climbed into the back yard of a neighboring residence. Chavous’ son, Damien, remains in critical condition at a local hospital. WJBF News Channel 6 has learned the owner of the dogs involved in the attack, Shirley Barnes, is in court in Aiken County.

SC Man Facing Maserati Murder Expected In Court

A South Carolina man charged with murder after police say he lost control of his speeding Maserati, plowing into a house and killing a man, is expected to appear in court. Pam Larson of the Greenville City Court Clerk’s Office says 36-year-old John Ludwig Jr. is to have hearing Wednesday afternoon on a possible bond violation.

UPDATED: Rocky’s Life Spared

The owners of a dog, named “Rocky”, were in court, Thursday, after complaints he chased kids around a south Augusta neighborhood. Rocky didn’t bite the kids, but neighbors claim he is aggressive. Since the incident, he’s been living at Richmond County Animal Control, waiting for a judge to rule his fate. Barclay Bishop has more in this WJBF News Channel 6 Extra.
