Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton tells WJBF News Channel 6 a 68-year-old Warrenville, SC man was pronounced dead Friday morning at his home after being discovered by a caretaker. Circumstances surrounding the scene are being considered suspicious, at this time.

According to Sgt. Dave Myers, a body that SCE&G Beech Island Power Plant employees discovered Wednesday afternoon in the Savannah River, has been identified as 52-year-old Gregory Brabham of Beech Island, S.C. Brabham’s death is being considered a homicide investigation, and is being investigated as such by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. UPDATE: According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, the autopsy of Gregory Brabham has revealed that his death is a homicide. The cause of death will be revealed at a later date, as investigators say releasing the cause of death may hinder the investigation into Brabham’s death.

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a body was found floating in the Savannah River near Beech Island, SC around noon on Wednesday. The body has been identified as 52-year-old Gregory Brabham, of Beech Island SC. Carlton says circumstances surrounding the discovery of Brabham’s body appear suspicious. Autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning in Newberry, SC.

According to Lt. David Turno, Aiken Department of Public Safety Officers responded to an armed robbery about 12:45 p.m., on Saturday, at the Burger King, located on York Street, in Aiken. UPDATE: The fatality from the Burger King robbery has been identified as Richard Lee Simmons, 24, of Columbia, SC. UPDATE: Investigators have charged both Robert Mills, Jr. and Sean Mark Rodriguez with one count of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, one count of Robbery while Armed with a Deadly Weapon and 16 counts of Kidnapping. Both are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center. UPDATE: Toryast Jermaine Johnson, 28, of Columbia, SC has been arrested in connection to the robbery.

A North Augusta South Carolina man was hit by a car and killed Sunday afternoon while in his front yard. According to coroner Tim Carlton, Mr. William Adams of Seymour Drive was hit by a 2002 Ford Taurus while trimming plants and stacking them near the roadway. The 72-year suffered multiple trauma.

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, the body of a 54-year-old white male was discovered near Warrenville, SC on Friday morning. UPDATE: Autopsy has revealed that Phillip Pennington died of natural causes. An enlarged heart and atherosclerosis were cited as the primary causes. Toxicology results will be available in about two weeks.

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a Greenwood, SC man died Sunday evening after a crash on I-20. Justin Ryan Heinz, 28, of Greenwood, was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Sunday night around 9:27 p.m.

Officers in Aiken are trying to solve their first murder case in nearly two years. Tuesday night, a man was shot to death near downtown Aiken. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the details. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested 20-year-old Freddie L. Simpkins for the murder of Donald McCalla. UPDATE: According to Sgt. Aaron Dowdy, a third suspect, Jeremy Holloway is still wanted in the murder. UPDATE: Jeremy Holloway turned himself into the Aiken Department of Public Safety around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Aiken County Investigators are searching for two men. They say Maurice Council and Akia Jordan shot and killed a teenager at T&S Mobile Home Park Wednesday night. It’s the third murder there in the last two years. Neighbors want more of a police presence in the area, but police say without community cooperation, everyone is running out of options. An Aiken County man’s body has been found, and his death is being investigated as suspicious.Aiken Coroner Tim Carlton says 53-year old Bernard Jones of Aiken was pronounced dead at the scene, on the 2900 block of Green Bush Road, after being discovered by family members around 2:00 p.m. at a local club at the location. UPDATE: According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 53-year-old Bernard Jones’ autopsy was performed in Newberry, SC Monday morning. The autopsy revealed Jones died as a result from his injuries from being beaten and gunshot wounds. His death is now ruled a homicide. The official cause of death is exsanguination. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.

According to Capt. Troy Elwell, Akia Jordan, 17, of Ridgecrest Road, in Aiken, surrendered to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. Jordan has been charged with Murder, Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill, Simple Assault and Battery and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. the charges stem from the shooting death of 16-year-old James Collins on T&S Drive, last week.

A body and a “suspicious package” were found outside the North Augusta Community Center Monday morning. Part of Buena Vista Avenue was shut down for three hours, while investigators and SLED agents worked to find out what happened, and what was inside that package. According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 35-year-old Christie Valenzuela, of Aiken, SC was pronounced dead at the Medical College of Georgia, on Friday afternoon, at 3:55 p.m. Mrs. Valenzuela was the passenger on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by her husband, 40-year-old Michael Valenzuela, also of Aiken.

A Sunday morning accident claims two lives. It happened along Highway 1, near the Hippodrome in North Augusta, just after 9 a.m. Investigators believe the driver of a Cadillac was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane, heading north in the southbound lane. It’s believed that the driver, 58-year-old Anthony Williams, struck his car against a pickup truck and then a van. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
