President Bush: Rescue Needed To Keep Economy From Breakdown
President Bush is welcoming the $700 billion financial rescue deal reached by congressional leaders and his administration. He says the measure would help protect the nation’s economy from a systemwide breakdown. Bush says the cost to the economy could be disastrous without the rescue plan.
Lawmakers Say They Have Worked Out A Bailout Deal
The details are being finalized Sunday, but the chief Senate Republican in the Wall Street bailout talks says they’ve “worked out everything.“ New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg made the comment after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a tentative deal shortly after midnight.
