Business Owners Push Southgate For Sheriff’s Office
It’s one of the two sites that will be recommended for the new Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Offices, and old furniture store in the Southgate Shopping Center, other business owners in the center say it’s needed and would help reduce crime in the area, but costs could keep the Sheriff closer to downtown. Augusta Leaders Ask For Lawmakers’ Help To Make Highway 56 Safer
Augusta city officials are asking for state help to change one Augusta highway from a dieway. The concern is the number of serious and fatal accidents on Highway 56, like the one in May of 2008 where three people were killed.

Augusta Commission Divided Over Judicial Center Naming
He blazed trails in Augusta’s legal community and Commissioner Corey Johnson is leading the effort to name the Judicial Center for Judge John Ruffin, but this big honor could create a a big blow up. Augusta’s Battle With The X-Mart Getting Expensive
The fight to keep an adult movie store from opening in Augusta is getting expensive…Lawyers for the X-Mart will be back in federal court, later this month, attempting to collect damages from the city of Augusta for what they say has been an illegal closing. The city has been fighting the store, in court, since 2002, and some Commissioners say, despite the costs, it’s been the right thing to do.
