SC Absentee Voting Nearly Doubles 2004 Numbers
South Carolina absentee voters have nearly doubled turnout from 2004 levels.State Election Commission data released Monday shows more than 302,000 people have already voted in South Carolina. In 2004, the state recorded about 161,000 absentee votes.

Ocean Isle, NC Beach House Fire Survivor Speaks About The Last Year Since The Fire
It was almost one year ago, on October 28th, when seven college students from South Carolina died in a North Carolina beach house fire. Now, friends and family members are remembering the victims, with new events to raise money for scholarships, in their honor. The first Carolina Remembrance Concert was Thursday night, in Columbia. It was to include a slide show to remember the six USC students, and one Clemson student, who died in the Ocean Isle beach fire, last year. WJBF News Channel 6’s Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, has an exclusive interview with one of the survivors of that fire, about the last year for him, and what he wants everyone to know about the victims.

Experts: Tire Rims From SC Learjet Scarred Runway
Federal aviation officials say tires on the doomed jet that crashed last month in South Carolina, killing four and injuring two others, shredded as the plane ran out of runway. The National Transportation Safety Board also said Wednesday that adhesive used on reflectors used to mark the runway in Columbia was found near debris from the tires of the Learjet that crashed on takeoff just before midnight Sept. 19.
Worker Dies On Last Day At SC State Fair
An attraction worker at the South Carolina State Fair was killed on the final day of the event when he was struck by the ride. The State newspaper reported that Jeff Doucleff was killed Sunday afternoon when the Inverter hit him.

SC State Agency Employees Volunteer for Pay Cuts to Prevent Layoffs
State lawmakers are still working on a plan to cut the state budget by more than $500 million, but one state agency has already taken steps in hopes of avoiding laying off employees. Department of Consumer Affairs employees agreed unanimously at a staff meeting Thursday to take a ten percent pay cut to save money.
SC State Lawmakers Tackle Budget Cuts
Legislators will be back at their desks in Columbia to deal with plans to cut $488 million from the state’s $7 billion budget.
