According to an email to WJBF News Channel 6 from Louis Svehla, PIO for the Richmond County Board of Education, the Georgia Department of Education released its 2008-2009 Title I Distinguished Schools list on December 11th, 2008. There are 15 Richmond County elementary schools on that list.

Right-sizing the efficiency of Augusta’s schools was the topic at an education conference. Statewide budget cuts are causing school systems across the board to get creative and slash school spending. School board members held a retreat this weekend to finalize right-sizing data and Monday afternoon Superintendent Doctor Dana Bedden talked about those plans. Count on our Fraendy Clervaud.

A suspect being sought for last week’s deadly home invasion, in which 23-year-old Jezreel Hammond, was killed. A suspect in that case was spotted in a neighborhood, Tuesday morning, near Pendleton King Park. A manhunt was launched on the 2000 block of Shirley Avenue…the perimeter was later expanded to an Augusta housing project…Cherry Tree Crossing.
