Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says former starting receiver Xavier Dye has asked for his release so he could transfer. Swinney spoke Thursday on WCCP-FM. Athletic spokesman Tim Bourret confirmed Swinney’s comments.

Study: More Grads Could Mean $7 Billion For SC In 2030
South Carolina colleges and universities are touting a study commissioned by higher education officials that says more education would financially benefit the state. A study released Wednesday by the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business says more college graduates by 2030 could mean a $7 billion boost to the state’s personal income.

Clemson Welcomes Record Freshman Class
Clemson University says it’s welcoming a record number of freshman this year. The Greenville News reported Tuesday that the school expects a class of more than 3,300 freshman for the fall semester. That’s up about 400 students from the total admitted in recent years.

Coroner: Clemson Student Who Died Had Meningitis
A Clemson University student from New Jersey who died last week had a form of meningitis. Multiple media outlets report that Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelly said Thursday that lab tests show 20-year-old Danielle Rae Fleming had bacterial meningitis.

In a WJBF News Channel 6 Medical Report, the investigation continues into the death of a Clemson student. The coroner has not confirmed the cause of death…but DHEC says they are working a bacterial menengitis case in Pickens County. Those at the university say…they’re not taking any chances. South Carolina, Clemson Open Fall Practices
