Salvation Army officials are about $6 million short of their goal to begin construction on the proposed Kroc Center. A fundraising campaign will kick off to raise the funds, but in these tough economic times, are there enough donation dollars to go around. WJBF News Channel 6’s looks for the answer.

The Lions Club Organization has been around for nearly 100 years, providing service for the community…lately though, money and volunteers have been coming up short. Sharing when money is tight isn’t always easy. But the needs of churches and charities continue, in fact, oftentimes they grow. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker reports.

According to a release, South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond announced Wednesday the thirteenth-annual Scrooges and Angels for 2008. The ten Angels were recognized at a press conference and honored with a reception in the Secretary of State’s Office following the announcement.

“American Idol” has allocated more than $64 million in grants to six U.S. and international charities from contributions to its “Idol Gives Back” fundraising event.

The Mormon church has sent 70,000 cans of peaches to charities in metro Atlanta. The donation also includes apricots.
