Carnival Cruises To Leave Charleston, SC Year-Round
Carnival Cruise Lines announced Thursday that it will will begin offering regular cruises from Charleston, the first ever year-round cruise schedule for the port. Carnival will operate five-, six- and seven-day voyages to The Bahamas and Key West, Fla., from downtown Charleston beginning May 18, 2010.

SC Plant Changes Name With Boeing Purchase
The former Vought Aircraft plant in South Carolina is now a Boeing plant as officials unveiled a new sign at the facility. The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Scott Fancher, who runs Boeing’s 787 program, said at a Monday ceremony at the North Charleston plant that the transition should be seamless.

Tony George wants to know why he was ousted as CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. George used his IndyCar team’s Web site Sunday to reflect on the move, claiming he has not received a “reasonable explanation” from the company’s board of directors, which consists primarily of family members.

Boeing says it will pay $580 million in cash for a South Carolina plant where the company’s eagerly awaited Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes are built. Boeing is buying the North Charleston, S.C., plant from Vought Aircraft. As part of the deal, Vought will be released from obligations to repay money that had been advanced earlier.

Craigslist Withdraws 1 Allegation Against SC Attorney General
Craigslist has withdrawn its request that South Carolina’s attorney general be temporarily prevented from pursuing prostitution-related charges against the company. Attorney General Henry McMaster spokesman Trey Walker said Thursday that Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster abandoned the bid after the prosecutor agreed not to charge executives while a federal lawsuit proceeds.
