ASU’s Saturday Campus Hours Affected By Snow
The Walton Way campus of Augusta State University will close following Friday evening activities (10 p.m., Feb. 12) and re-open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, due to the impending snow predicted for our area and expected difficulties in traveling.

Georgia World Congress Center loses $1.3 Million In Economic Downturn
The Georgia World Congress Center’s loss for last fiscal year was worse than projected, and it is only expected to worsen this year. The 3.9 million square-foot conference center campus in downtown Atlanta lost $1.3 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30. It’s the first budget decline for the expansive center since 2005.

Virginia Tech Families Want Shooting Probe Reopened
Relatives of Virginia Tech victims are asking the state to reopen its investigation of the 2007 mass shootings at the school. A group including parents of many of the 32 people killed by student gunman Seung-Hui Cho issued a statement Tuesday calling on Gov. Tim Kaine to reopen a state panel’s review. The group also includes people hurt in the shooting.

UGA Coaches In the Dog House With GA High School
Mark Richt is in the dog house with one of the top high school football programs in Georgia. Carver High School head football coach Dell McGee has banned Richt’s coaching staff from stepping on the Carver campus.
6 Shot, Wounded In Drive-By At Texas Southern University
A Texas Southern University spokeswoman says six people were shot and wounded at a community rally on the Texas Southern University campus in what police believe was a gang-related drive-by shooting. TSU spokeswoman Eva Pickens says one male student was among those injured Wednesday night.

Google Tricycle Snaps Views On Penn’s Campus
Coming soon to a campus near you - the Google tricycle. A pedicab-like vehicle with an 8-foot-high camera is rolling around the walkways at the University of Pennsylvania to collect 360-degree views for the “Street View” feature of Google Maps.

MCG Gets Agency OK For Athens, GA Campus
The Medical College of Georgia says it has received permission from a national accreditation agency to take additional steps toward opening a campus in Athens. MCG says the Liaison Committee on Medical Education sent a letter that says planning is on track to admit 40 students to the Medical College-University of Georgia Partnership Campus in Athens.

Strayer University Expanding To Augusta
There’s a new university in Augusta. Strayer University held it’s grand opening Wednesday at its new facility on Augusta West Parkway. The 117-year-old Washington, D.C.-based institution already has campuses in Atlanta and Savannah, but this is its first Augusta campus.

Two Killed, One Wounded In Arkansas College Campus Shooting
Classes at the University of Central Arkansas are cancelled Monday after two students were killed, and another person wounded, in a shooting. It happened Sunday night outside a dorm.
