Burke County Shooting Suspect Sought

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office needs your assistance in locating a wanted suspect from Burke County. On the night of May 2nd, Alphonzo Lorenzo Burley, allegedly shot victim, Johnny B. Godbee, twice in the left thigh during a fight at Club Midnight, in Burke County. The suspect also shot his brother, James Eric Burley, in the lower abdomen by accident during the fight.

Richmond County Teams Up With Red Cross To Help Storm Victims

Richmond County Emergency Services has teamed up with The American Red Cross to help storm victims. At the Bernie Ward Community Center off Lumpkin Road, people who need assistance can file damage reports to help get what they need.

UPDATED: Storm Fatalities Reported in Aiken County

According to Columbia County (GA) EMA Director, Pam Tucker, the National Weather Service has changed storm damage assessment in Harlem and Grovetown. They will start in Aiken County where fatalities have been reported. After Columbia County, they will move on to Richmond and Burke Counties.

According to “The True Citizen,“, two meteorite hunters have been “banned” from Burke County after pleading guilty in State Court, Wednesday morning. Ralph “Sonny” Clary and Michael Miller were both fined $2,000 and told “to get out of dodge.“

Meteorite Hunters Jailed In Burke County For Trespassing

According to “The True Citizen,“ two Southwestern meteorite hunters found fame they weren’t searching for. Just one week after Las Vegas meteorite hunter Ralph “Sonny” Clary, Jr. was interviewed by WJBF News Channel 6, he and Arizona hunter, Michael William Miller, were arrested for criminal trespass in Burke County.

Georgia PSC OK’s 2 New Nuclear Reactors Near Augusta

Georgia Power has won approval from the state Public Service Commission to build two new nuclear reactors near Augusta, which could be the first new nuclear project to break ground in the country in three decades. The $14 billion expansion project at Plant Vogtle is set to begin construction in 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in 2017. The PSC voted 4-to-1 Tuesday to certify the proposal from Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission must also sign off.

Christine Long is accused of not providing proper care or education for her eleven children, but she alleges her husband kept her and her children prisoner in their own home, repeatedly abusing them. She has now filed for divorce. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker reports.
