Georgia Forestry is called into action, Tuesday afternoon. A grass fire created a large plume of smoke along Brown Road. You’re asked to avoid the area if you can.  There’s still no word on the cause of the fire, but the crews at Forestry believe it’s under control and have enough equipment to handle it. Developing.

According to Investigator Sean Cochran, with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, a two-day search ended, Sunday, when the body of Marshall Cain Beck was located in a wooded area near the Brown Road, Peach Orchard Road intersection.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office tell WJBF News Channel 6 that a woman, who was last seen on Saturday, has been found dead in Alabama. The bodies of Jessica Lynn Murphy, 30, and her estranged husband, 37-year-old Scott Dean “Scottie” Murphy, were reportedly found at a rest stop near Evergreen, Alabama.

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of 30-year-old Jessica Lynn Murphy, of Tubman Street, in Augusta.

A shooting happened in Augusta, on Brown Road, shortly before 11:00 p.m., Monday night. According to a police report, two women got into an argument at the home, and one of the women shot the other one.
