Before penning his latest book, former ‘Atlanta Journal and Constitution’ reporter Don O’Briant helped the founder of WJBF News Channel 6, J.B. Fuqua, write his autobiography.

Feds Not To Probe Atlanta Courthouse Shooting
Federal prosecutors will not bring charges against Atlanta courthouse gunman Brian Nichols, who was convicted last year of murdering a judge, a court reporter, a sheriff’s deputy and a federal agent. Local prosecutors encouraged their federal counterparts to bring additional charges in hopes that Nichols could still face lethal injection after he avoided the state’s death penalty.

Judge sentences Atlanta courthouse shooter to life without parole
A judge has sentenced the man who killed four people in a brazen courthouse escape to life in prison and hundreds of years on more than fifty charges. Superior Court Judge James Bodiford was required by law to sentence Brian Nichols to life in prison with or without chance of parole after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on a death sentence.

Atlanta courthouse gunman avoids death sentence
A jury has failed to reach a unanimous decision on how to sentence a man who killed a judge and three other people in a shooting spree that started in a downtown Atlanta courthouse. Prosecutors had asked the jury to sentence Brian Nichols to death. Under Georgia law, the judge will now decide whether to sentence the 37-year-old to life in prison with parole eligibility or life in prison without parole. He has set a hearing Saturday to decide.

Security Clears Courtroom In Brian Nichols Case
Fulton County deputies have emptied the courtroom used to hold the trial of courthouse gunman Brian Nichols. The officers emptied the courtroom Tuesday morning and used security dogs to sweep the courtroom and most of the sixth floor of the Atlanta Municipal Courthouse. Court spokesman Don Plummer said there was a “security issue” but did not elaborate.

A jury has convicted a man of murder in a 2005 shooting spree that began at an Atlanta courthouse and left a judge and three others dead. The jury deliberated for 12 hours before finding 36-year-old Brian Nichols guilty Friday.
