Georgia’s Supreme Court has upheld a death sentence against Robert Owen Arrington. Arrington was convicted in the 2001 beating death of his 46-year-old girlfriend, Kathy Lynn Hutchens, in Richmond County.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators looking for a man wanted on Aggravated Battery charges. Investigators say 34-year-old Taurus Farrar severely beat his girlfriend, Friday afternoon. It happened along the 3600 block of Brussels Street, in Barton Village. Investigators also say Farrar was stabbed several times, and is in need of hospital care.

A woman accused of beating her 14-year-old son frequently tied him up to prevent him from escaping and had a lock installed on a bedroom closet where he often was kept for days at a time, police said Tuesday. Investigators continued to conduct interviews and examine evidence on Tuesday as they prepare a criminal case against 37-year-old LaRhonda Marie McCall, police Sgt. Gary Knight said.

According to Sgt. Calvin Chew, an Augusta woman has been arrested charges of cruelty to children. On Tuesday, September 15th, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called out to the 2200 block of Walden Drive, when a neighbor heard a child screaming for help. Upon officers’ arrival, it was found that a 7-year-old child was being disciplined by his aunt, Latashious Unique Tart, 26, for misbehaving in school.

Richmond police say they still are working out what types of chores Chris Brown will perform during six months of community labor a judge ordered him to complete for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Prosecutors say Chris Brown’s sentencing for beating Rihanna has been moved up at his lawyer’s request.

Police say a woman was shot and her 1-year-old son beaten during a home invasion in south Fulton County. Chattahoochee Hills police Chief Damon Jones says 22-year-old Nikki Neely was shot in the head during the attack just before 9 p.m. Monday. WSB radio reported that one person was in custody.

A handwritten motion by the man charged in the slaying of an Arkansas television anchorwoman from South Carolina will be the focus of a court hearing. The motion by Curtis Lavelle Vance asks Judge Chris Piazza to relieve his team of state-provided public defenders. Vance claims his defense lawyers “already criminally and conspiratorially” crippled his defense by withholding material from him.

The man accused of killing an Arkansas television anchorwoman from South Carolina will appear in court and could discuss why he refused to take part in a mental competency exam.

An 18-year-old South Carolina man has been charged with homicide by child abuse after his girlfriend’s baby died. Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Armstrong says 1-year-old Xavier Lee Polston was taken off of life support around noon Thursday.

Four Aiken teenagers are in jail, accused of attacking a 47-year-old man. But, two more teens are being called heroes, for their role in this story. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has more.

A Columbia County woman, beaten in her home, has died. Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Laverne Parsons was beaten Wednesday after she walked in on a burglary in her home. She died Thursday at the Medical College of Georgia. Her death is the first murder in Columbia County, this year. WJBF News Channel 6’s Renita Crawford has more.

There’s new information in the brutal beating of a man in the bathroom of the Sears store at the Augusta Mall. You’ll remember 54-year-old Lawrence Stephens was beaten so badly in November that he had to spend 3 nights in a hospital. Now, investigators need your help to find two men. They say the men used Stephens’ stolen credit cards at a local Wal-Mart.
