UPDATED: Investigators Say Aiken Man Murdered; Family Reacts

An Aiken County man’s body has been found, and his death is being investigated as suspicious.Aiken Coroner Tim Carlton says 53-year old Bernard Jones of Aiken was pronounced dead at the scene, on the 2900 block of Green Bush Road, after being discovered by family members around 2:00 p.m. at a local club at the location. UPDATE: According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 53-year-old Bernard Jones’ autopsy was performed in Newberry, SC Monday morning. The autopsy revealed Jones died as a result from his injuries from being beaten and gunshot wounds. His death is now ruled a homicide. The official cause of death is exsanguination. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.

Aiken County Murder Suspect Arrested

According to Capt. Troy Elwell, Akia Jordan, 17, of Ridgecrest Road, in Aiken, surrendered to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. Jordan has been charged with Murder, Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill, Simple Assault and Battery and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. the charges stem from the shooting death of 16-year-old James Collins on T&S Drive, last week.

UPDATED: 14-Year-Old Arrested, Charged In South Augusta Murder

WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that there has been a shooting in south Richmond County, on Neely Road. That is near the Burke County line. Investigators are on scene, as well as the Richmond County Coroner’s Office. UPDATE: We have now learned that one person has been arrested. We have a crew on the scene, and we will provide more information as it becomes available. UPDATE: We have received information that a woman has died in the shooting. She is identified as 22-year-old Patricia Troglen. UPDATE: Troglen’s 14-year-old stepbrother, Eric Lee Phillips Whitehead, has been arrested in the murder, and charged with an adult.

Body Found In Augusta Canal

A body has been discovered in the Augusta Canal. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators were called out Wednesday morning to the Enterprise Mill, just off of the 15th Street bridge, near Greene Street. The body has been indentified as 50-year-old Herman Johnson.

Teen Drowns At Wildwood Park

The body of an unidentified 17-year old was found in the lake at Wildwood Park. Emergency medical crews responded Saturday afternoon. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

UPDATED: SC Sheriff Says Deputies Searching For Killer Of 5

A South Carolina sheriff says deputies are searching to find the man they believe has killed five people in a week. Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday that the three separate shootings are linked through evidence. WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division is investigating a police-involved shooting in Gastonia, NC where a suspect was killed to see if there are any links to the Cherokee County serial killings. We will provide updated information as it becomes available.

Recent Homicide Ruled Out; Funerals For Victims Begin Sunday

Funerals begin Sunday in Cherokee County for victims of the serial killer. Hazel Linder and Gena Parker’s funerals will be held at 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Gaffney. There will be a visitation before the funeral beginning at 2 p.m.

Another Body Found In Cherokee County, Police Say Not Related to Serial Killings

Another person has been found dead in Cherokee County. According to crews at the scene, a person’s body was found on the corner of North Petty St. and E. Robinson Street in the city of Gaffney late Saturday night. Authorities say he was found on the sidewalk by a passerby.

One Dead In Augusta Shooting

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded shortly before midnight, Friday night, to 124 Fox Trace Drive (Fox Trace Apartments) in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Upon officers’ arrival, they located the victim, a Hispanic male, inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced deceased by Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen, a few minutes after midnight, on Saturday July 4th.

UPDATED: Bank Robbery Suspect Shot And Killed, 2 Others Arrested

A bank robbery in Aiken County Wednesday afternoon, ended with a standoff, shots fired, and one suspect dead. It all started in Jackson, South Carolina. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story. UPDATED: Jackson, SC Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Standoff With Police

Investigators say one bank robbery suspect has been shot and another is still on the loose, in Jackson, SC. Aiken County Sheriff’s Investigators tell WJBF News Channel 6 that shortly before noon, three men robbed the First Citizens Bank, on Atomic Road, in Jackson, SC. Jackson police responded to the robbery and a chase ensued. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe reports that the third suspect sought in the Jackson, SC bank robbery has been arrested after a standoff with police at a house in Beech Island, SC with an AK-47. Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton tells us the suspect who was shot by police near Kimberly-Clark has died. We will add more information on this developing story as it develops.

Katherine Jackson said in the filing she was acting to ensure Michael Jackson’s three children are the beneficiaries.
