TEE Center Talks: Last Ditch Effort To Save Project

It’s a last ditch effort to save Augusta’s TEE Center.  Commissioners today put the fate of the stalled trade center project into the hands of Mayor Deke Copenhaver and a still unnamed four member sub-committee.  They directed the sub committee to “hammer out” an agreement on the trade center and report back in two weeks.

Richmond County Armed For Heavy Flu Season

The flu outbreak in the CSRA seems to be getting worse. One North Augusta doctor says he can’t ever recall seeing this many flu cases this early in the season. Now local health officials are scrambling to be pro-active, rather than re-active with the flu. Joy Howe has more.

Investigators At The Scene Of Augusta Hotel Fire

Investigators are back at the scene of an early Friday morning hotel fire. It happened at the Days Inn, located on Deans Bridge Road, near and Meadowbrook Drive. The fire did some heavy damage to part of the hotel. There’s no word yet of any injuries. Crews are checking for hot spots. The cause remains under investigation. Rightsizing Augusta Schools Discussed At Education Conference

Right-sizing the efficiency of Augusta’s schools was the topic at an education conference. Statewide budget cuts are causing school systems across the board to get creative and slash school spending. School board members held a retreat this weekend to finalize right-sizing data and Monday afternoon Superintendent Doctor Dana Bedden talked about those plans. Count on our Fraendy Clervaud.
