Could Arena Site Save TEE Center?

New Management Company Bringing Bigger, Better Shows To Augusta Entertainment Complex
What a difference a year makes in the quest to get better concerts at the James Brown Arena and the Bell Auditorium. The new management company, Global Spectrum, has made noticeable changes, and just last week, they announced some even bigger acts coming to town…ones the companys says will have local concert-goers singing a new tune about shows in the CSRA. Augusta Coliseum Authority Members Blast Each Other
Tuesday, the show at the James Brown Arena was in the boardroom…not on stage. It was the first meeting since eight members signed a letter slaming state lawmakers and questioning their motives in revamping the Augusta Coliseum Authority. The bill abolishes the current Coliseum Authority, on June 1st, and as this board prepares to go, it goes out with a bang. Letter From Augusta Coliseum Authority Blasts Lawmakers
A letter signed by eight members of the Augusta Coliseum Authority accuses state lawmakers of a power grab in the bill to restructure the board. The letter blasts lawmakers saying the bill was untimely, unprofessional, and possibly unethical. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has more.

City Of Augusta, Arena In Battle Of The Bucks
When the bonds that built the Civic Center are paid off, next year, the city of Augusta will no longer be obligated to provide the arena with more than $2 million a year in hotel tax money. The city wants to use a portion of that money in another area, and area that would fit the city to a TEE. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the details.

Six Months in the Spotlight for Global Spectrum
It was something Coliseum Authority members felt they had to do. Hire a professional management company to take over the operation at the Augusta Entertainment Complex. Augusta Coliseum Authority Frets Funding Loss
It would be a death blow for the James Brown Arena…the loss of the tax money it gets from the city to pay off debt, and keep the doors open.
