Augusta deputies search for robber

  Richmond County investigators are searching for the lone gunman who held up a conveneience store on Mike Padgett Highway over the weekend.  A clerk was injured when the robber hit him over the head with a gun.

UPDATED: Third Suspect Arrested In Aiken Burger King Robbery

According to Lt. David Turno, Aiken Department of Public Safety Officers responded to an armed robbery about 12:45 p.m., on Saturday, at the Burger King, located on York Street, in Aiken. UPDATE: The fatality from the Burger King robbery has been identified as Richard Lee Simmons, 24, of Columbia, SC. UPDATE: Investigators have charged both Robert Mills, Jr. and Sean Mark Rodriguez with one count of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, one count of Robbery while Armed with a Deadly Weapon and 16 counts of Kidnapping. Both are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center. UPDATE: Toryast Jermaine Johnson, 28, of Columbia, SC has been arrested in connection to the robbery.

Carjacking Suspect Sought In Augusta

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who carjacked a woman in Augusta, on August 11th, on the 1300 block of Merry Street, around 1:19 a.m. The suspect is identified as 26-year-old Nathaniel Robert Thomas.

Williston Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

According to Investigator Rodney Pruitt, with the Williston Police Department, an armed robbery suspect has been arrested in Augusta, GA. The suspect is identified as 44-year-old Tommy Watkins, Jr.

UPDATED: Grovetown Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Grovetown Department of Public Safety is searching for suspect in an armed robbery. The robbery took place at a Grovetown residence on Saturday, October 24th. The suspect has been identified as Odonnis Levar Corley. UPDATE: Corley has now been arrested.

UPDATED: Second Suspect Arrested In Richmond County Home Invasion

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a home invasion suspect. Ahijah Murray, 19, has been charged with one count each of Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Burglary and Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle. Murray is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail. UPDATE: Jonathan Cornelius Glenn, 28, was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the home invasion.

Mark McClain Executed, Victim’s Co-Worker Remembers Tragic Night

At 7:24 p.m., Tuesday evening…Mark McClain was pronounced dead after being executed by lethal injection…14 years after he shot and killed Kevin Brown inside a Domino’s Pizza on Washington Road…12 years after he was found guilty of that crime, and sentenced to die. Kevin Brown’s father died shortly after the murder, but those who are still around, and knew Kevin, they say it’s a somber day, like John Eckburg, a friend and former co-worker of Kevin’s. 1 Suspect Arrested In Papa John’s Pizza Robbery, 1 Still Wanted

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for robbing the Papa John’s Pizza, on Windsor Spring Road, Wednesday night. Employees say Augustine Quinones and another man cam into the store wearing white, plastic “Jason” masks and flashed a gun. The men then demanded money, fired a single shot, and then took off on foot. Quinones has been arrested, and the other suspect is still being sought.

UPDATED: 4th Suspect Arrested In String Of Richmond County Robberies

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a series of robberies and carjackings, which investigators believe are connected. Wednesday, at about 1:00 p.m., investigators located a white pickup truck that they believed was involved in the series of robberies. At about 3:30 p.m., investigators stopped the truck and took three men into custody. The arrested suspects are identified as: Martin Salance Harvey, 21; Tevin Demarcus Bell, 17; Kavuan Bernard Moore, 20. The wanted suspect is identified as Mica Rochelle Gray, 19. UPDATE: Mica Gray was arrested at Savannah Suites Motel, on Wrightsboro Road, on Octobr 15th at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Columbia County Circle K Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

According to Capt. Steve Morris, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred on September 23rd, at the Circle K located at 457 Old Evans Road, in Martinez. The suspect is identified as 19-year-old Brandon Dion Jones.

Aiken County Man Arrested In Daytona Beach, Florida

According to Sgt. Dave Myers, On October 10th, Richard Brown, wanted for Armed Robbery in Aiken County, was detained by Daytona Beach, Florida authorities for unrelated charges. Richard Brown, 29, of Hard Street, in Graniteville, SC is charged with Armed Robbery, and Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.

Augusta Ramada Limited Robbery Suspects Sought

Richmond County authorities are looking for two suspects that robbed the Ramada Limited, Tuesday night. The robbery hapenned just before 10:00 p.m., off the 2100 block of Gordon Highway.

Mark McClain Asks Nation’s Top Court For Reprieve

A Georgia death row inmate is asking the nation’s top court to halt his execution until it resolves an Alabama death penalty case he says could affect his legal challenge. Mark McClain asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay the execution because a ruling in the other case could “alter the legal prism” through which his case is viewed.

October 20th Execution Set For Convicted Augusta Murderer

The Georgia Department of Corrections has set Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. for the execution of a convicted Richmond County murderer. A warrant signed Thursday by a judge permits the state to execute 43-year-old Mark McClain at any time between noon Oct. 20 and noon Oct. 27 at the state prison in Jackson.

Richmond County Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

According to Lt. Scott Peebles, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in a Friday morning bank robbery at the Fifth Third Bank branch located at 2756 Peach Orchard Road. The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Jeremiah Williamson.
