Fort Gordon, GA—Thursday was the last day of the fifth annual Marine Tribute to the Fallen, at Fort Gordon.

The event that started October 16th ended with a 21-gun salute in honor of the servicemen and servicewomen who have lost their lives in the Afghan and Iraq wars.

Marines and Vavy personnel ran 24 hours a day for 21 days straight, while carrying pouches with the 21 bullets fired in the salute.

One Marine shared what the solemn event meant for him.

Pfc. Jordan Sarro, U.S. Marine Corps: “Until you get here, you just don’t really know the significance of what we do until you see what people have done and, what they’ve given up.“
