SC Governor Mark Sanford Reimburses State

According to Governor Mark Sanford’s spokesman Joel Sawyer, late Tuesday afternoon, Governor Sanford had reimbursed the state treasurer’s office for the Argentina portion of the economic development trip last year, when the meetings with his mistress occurred.

Columbia, SC—According to Governor Mark Sanford’s spokesman Joel Sawyer, late Tuesday afternoon, Governor Sanford had reimbursed the state treasurer’s office for the Argentina portion of the economic development trip last year, when the meetings with his mistress occurred.

The amount repaid was $2,969.58, which covers all travel, meals, lodging and transportation costs for the governor and a Commerce Department staffer who accompanied him.

The Governor has said no public money was used for his meetings with his mistress, and that this was a legitimate economic development trip, but he’s paying the state back for that portion of the trip anyway.
