COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s financial leaders have delayed a possible cut of $200 million from the state’s budget.

The Budget and Control Board voted Thursday to delay action on chopping all agencies by 4 percent, or $200 million.

The state’s economic advisers have trimmed $328 million from their revenue forecast since the state budget was passed in May.

The Board of Economic Advisors is expected to issue a new revenue forecast next week. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Hugh Leatherman of Florence says he wants to wait until state economists issue new revenue projections before deciding on cuts.

The Budget and Control Board plans to meet next month after the new forecast comes out.
