Aiken, SC—Veterans Day is fast approaching, and some folks in Aiken are getting ready to show their thanks.
Next Tuesday, the Aiken employment office will host a “Veteran’s appreciation day” where they’ll offer free health screenings, food, and general advice for veterans who are looking for work.
The effort will be in connection with the Veterans’ Hospital in Aiken, and Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
The staff at the employment office says they see anywhere from 200 to 300 vets a month come through in search of a job.
Mike Solenberger, SC Employment Security Commission: “We’ve had 4 or 5 veterans working here in the office and of course they’ll all be involved in this program, and we love our vets and every chance we get, we thank them for what they’re doing, and I think it’s nice that the agency has decided that we need to show that we appreciate them.“
Again, that event will be next Tuesday, the 10th. The office will be closed in honor of Veterans Day on Wednesday.
