North Augusta, SC—According to a release, Team United, the contractor building phase 2 of the Palmetto Parkway, reminds all motorists that there will be intermittent lane closures during the daylight hours on US Highway 25, in the vicinity of Interstate 20, over the next two weeks. All motorists should be aware of this potential for delays and seek alternative routes when available.
In addition, specifically, the latest traffic change involves Ascauga Lake Road. The contractor will begin the process of shifting traffic from the current detour onto the new bridge that has been constructed over I-520 on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. The process will require daytime lane closures. We expect that both lanes of traffic will be shifted onto the new bridge by Thursday October 23, 2008. Advanced warning signs will be used to notify the public of the upcoming activities.
The second traffic change is that the installation of the concrete paving along the section I-520 south of Clearwater Road will begin late next week. The placement of concrete will be done in 12 to 16 hour shifts and will be occurring day and night as well as on weekends. The concrete will be batched on Clearwater Road and hauled to the point of placement by dump truck. There will be an increase in the amount of truck traffic that will be crossing over Clearwater Road near the new overpass bridge. This work will take approximately 4 weeks to complete. Advanced warning signs have been put in place and electronic message boards will also be used to warn the public about the increased construction traffic.
