Suspected Child Molester Out On Bond

Bond was set at 25-thousand dollars for Stephen Eubanks Wednesday morning in Aiken County.  The 67-year-old former North Augusta principal is accused of sexually abusing students dating back to the late 70’s.

Judge Danny Lynn, Jr. told Eubanks not to have contact with the victims or any male or female under 16. A few hours later he was out of jail.
Reporter:  “Mr. Eubanks do you know Gregory Lass.  He says you took him from his school dance and took him to your house and gave him alcohol and fondled him.”

Gregory Lass say Eubanks was his principal at Paul Knox Junior High School. He says Eubanks befriended him and other students and they trusted him.

Lass: “If I was in study hall he would get me and another guy who was my friend who looked liked me and we would just go do what we wanted.  He’d take us out of study hall and we’d hang out, we’d leave school grounds with him and or do whatever we wanted to.  He treated us like we were special.”

Lass say Eubanks coerced and manipulated him and other students.

Lass:  “He was grooming me for something later that I never saw coming.”

He says Eubanks asked him to leave with him from a school dance in the 70’s and gave him alcohol.

Lass: “Next thing I know we’re at his home in his bedroom and his fondling me.”

Lass says knowing Eubanks will eventually have to answer to the charges is what he’s been waiting for.

Lass:  “It feels like redemption.  Redemption is mine and I feel like I’m getting redemption everyday, day to day.

Eubanks will be back in court in December.
