New Ellenton, SC—A group of students in New Ellenton, SC took time to honor their veterans on Wednesday.

New Ellenton Middle School got a chance to see the Silver Bluff High School Junior ROTC post the colors.

The students were told why the flag is folded, and what each fold represents, such as those who died in battle, and those who died in the 9/11 attacks.

The students also learned why we remember this day.

Steven Kolodizieizyck, Assistant Princpal, New Ellenton Middle School: “Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to all American veterans of all who served in all the wars.“

Schools across Aiken County took time to remember Veterans Day. Hammond Hill Elementary School even set up a “mini-museum” with war artifacts.
